      The Week of June 10th

      Dear Parents,

Well, this is it! Here we are—the last week of school for your kindergartner…It seems like just yesterday that you were letting go of their tiny little hands and leaving them with us for the first time.

What an AMAZING year we have had together! We have covered a lot of material and participated in many exciting activities and projects. Your children have grown physically, socially, emotionally and academically. Catherine and I are proud of each child for their hard work and many accomplishments this year. We can honestly say we have learned as much from your children as they have learned from us.

Alma, Eli, Elli, Gita, Imogen, Isaac, Kyle, Mateo, Miles, Noah, Penelope, Peter, Ruby, Zac and Zoe have brought immeasurable joy and happiness to our classroom. Catherine and I are so fortunate to have had such a wonderful group of students this year. Our friends and family often laugh at us when we refer to your children as “my kids.” They have all touched our lives in very positive and rewarding ways.

As much as we don’t want to think about giving them that final hug on the last day of school, we know that we must. We will miss every one of “our kids” with the whole of our hearts and we thank you for sharing your precious children with us.

Please do keep in touch for many, many years to come.

      With love,

      Lili and Catherine

Nuts and Bolts for our last week:

This week we will have our last library class. Please remember to send your child with his/her library books on Monday. If your child has any outstanding books, we will notify you via email and ask that any missing books be replaced.

Please send your child to school with a labeled brown paper bag or reusable grocery bag by Tuesday morning. We will finally be sending home all of that work you have been wondering about! Be on the look out for some "memory box" worthy Writer's Workshop stories as well as some "frame worthy" beginning and end of the year self-portraits.

On Thursday, we will be taking our kindergarteners to McLaren Park for a picnic and fun outdoor activities. We will leave school by 9:30 AM and plan to return by 12:30 PM. We will be eating both snack and lunch at the park, so we ask that you send your child to school with a disposable snack and lunch on this day. Choice Lunch will need to be cancelled. Additionally, we ask that your child come prepared with sunscreen, layered clothing, and comfortable shoes.

      All School Events:

We will have our Spring Celebration on Wednesday afternoon in the gym across the street. The entrance to the gym is located on Goettingen St. (parallel to Alta Vista). Your children will stay with us in the classroom until the performance, scheduled for 4:00 PM.

Our end of the year celebration will also be held in the gym on Friday morning. Students should arrive to school no later than 9:30 AM on this day. We will have our final classroom morning meeting before the ceremony, scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM. Once you drop your child off, we recommend that you head over to the gym to save yourself a seat. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

Please have your children wear "fancy but casual" clothing for both events.

We look forward to a wonderful week with our soon to be 1st graders!
