Education Access Fund
Alta Vista School is committed to building a community of families who share common values, irrespective of financial means. We set aside 10% of our annual operating budget to fund financial aid for families who may need assistance.
Each spring, we come together for a community party and fun(d)raiser to raise money for the Education Access Fund.
In 2011, the Alta Vista Fun(d)raiser was "Conversations on Creativity, Innovation & Education" and was held at Twitter. The event was hosted by Twitter Co-Founder Biz Stone and featured special guests from The Khan Academy (TED 2011), Peter Gregson, and SF Undercover. It was generously underwritten by Northern Trust. In addition to a fun evening, the successful event raised generous proceeds to support the Education Access Fund, as well as a matching donation for our Alta Vista student-led support of Bangladeshi students through a partnership with local non-profit Room to Read.
